Highlight: African American Children's Musicians

Today I want to highlight some African American children's musicians that I love so you can check them out!

Ella Jenkins: The Grandmother of children's music. She does a great job of incorporating different cultures and music concepts including rhythm and rhyme, for preschoolers.

Ziggy Marley, Bob Marley's son has a fun album called "Family Time" which has some familiar songs of his father and some new ones of his own.

Jazzy Ash is one of my favorites, bringing sophisticated, upbeat music and jazz to kids. She has a number of catchy tunes on various topics.

Secret Agent 23 Skidoo, from North Carolina is a family hip-hop musician at the top of his game. Super energetic and super fun!

Father Goose is a Jamaican-born artist raised in Brooklyn, who brings the Jamaican sound to the kid's music scene.

Claudia Eliaza Zanes is another favorite. A Hatian-American musician, she is also a board certified music therapist. She often collaborates with her husband Dan Zanes.

Sweet Honey in the Rock is a staple. Harmonizing since 1973 often addressing issues of social justice, civil rights and spirituality. They are not exclusively of the children's music genre, but some of their gospel influenced music crosses over and they should be included in this list.

Here are a few more I haven't listened to but have been recommended by others:

 Uncle Devin @Uncledevinshow

Kim & Reggie Harris

Ayiti Pearl of the Antilles

Alphabet Rockers

Culture Queen

Have fun listening!
